..like a child…
May 10, 2012So, it’s been 6 months since I’ve posted in here. What am I doing with my life? Damn. Everything is different!
So, I’ve been busy. Got a new job. I make websites. I don’t work for Apple anymore. It’s weird but I’m happy. Life is on an upwards swing and I’m hoping it stays that way. Unfortunately the weather doesn’t want to cooperate hence this drawing. I’m trying to make it my business to draw more this year so here’s to resolutions!

December 22, 2011Welp, it’s been a few months since I’ve been here so clearly I have been busy. Just wrapped up school *whoooo* but I still don’t have a ‘big girl’ job yet. /: Hopefully opportunity will arise as long as I keep up the momentum. Must…stay… motivated….
Just to show I’m not dead and that I still draw, here is part of my gift to my friend Martzi done in ArtStudio for the iPad. Inspired by too much Rumiko Takahashi viewing and her amazing pair of Velazquez boots.

July 12, 2011A set of icons in the works for a website. Trying out some app like gradients. Very “Apple.”

July 9, 2011I’m under the impression that web developers nowadays just have to be really good at ‘Googling.’ Even just making this blog didn’t require all that much web building knowledge, just a serious amount of Googling. You’ll notice the increase in quality of websites by the growing popularity of Google. It would be a great info graphic even.
But honestly, I think searching skills will become a more notable vital skill. People will start listing it on their resumes much like the typing ‘words per minute’ times.
In the next couple weeks I should be participating in a workshop based on Front End Web Development courtesy of Cykod, a web development group based out of Somerville. I don’t know much about them but I was informed by one of my teachers Brian Lucid that they will be joining Massart’s staff this coming Fall due to the ‘retirement’ of the amazing Mike Swartz.
The idea behind the program is to get web designers up to date on newer web trends and introduce some important skills that many companies are requiring. Generally most art schools won’t teach students how to code because it wasn’t necessary due to the developer teams handling that work. Many companies still don’t require their designers to know code because they’ll outsource the development to someone else. Smaller companies usually need to condense down certain positions and designers need to know more about the actual construction.
What I’m most looking forward to is the weeks focused on JQuery and JavaScript. They’re skills that aren’t really taught anywhere but are super important for web design. Most websites that used flash in the past now can be implemented using a combination of JavaScript and newer html5 commands which better utilize the energy of mobile devices.
But anyway, this was a pretty geeky entry. Expect some work later today. I’m wrapping up a flyer I’ve been working on.

One of the pics I snapped on that bridge where I lost my Testarossa.
Size and weight and shape.
June 25, 2011Whuddup,
Sort of a weird first post post but fuck it. (eww! enculer!)
So I’m chilling in the crib watching Eyes Wide Shut, as usual, and my room mate comes through. He’s all like what up dude and I hit him back with the usual pleasantries. Once that exchange is through my room mate whips a soaking wet red note book out of his week old (hella jealous) Burberry trench. It’s my fucking sketch book…. right, WTF?
He tells me that he found it on the bridge near our job. An hour earlier I was on that bridge snapping geometrically inspired semi-abstract photos. It prolly fell out of this stussy knapsack that i hated even before this bull went down. I’ll prolly burn it now.
If you’ve seen me on anywhere in the last months then you’ve prolly seen me with that sweet red notie, which I’ve decided to name Testarossa. (Italian for red head. Also the name of my fav ferrari.)
Now, like i said, I have that thing with me all the time. I know it’s size and weight and shape. Anyone that knows shit from shinola knows that water damage fiddles with size and shape and weight. My Testarossa is all bent out of shape :-(. The size and shape and weight are all out of whack. She’s unfamiliar now. I didn’t think it’s matter but it just feels weird. I always thought that i’d use it no matter what but it really feels funny. You ever seen an action movie where the hero knows his gun has been fiddled with cuz the weight is different with and w/o bullets? That shits true dude. Ever so true.
I almost don’t wanna use it anymore but that’s not what love is about. Throught thick and thin. JT y Testarossa.
Anyway shots out to the studiously talented Ian Martin for finding my sketch book.
“That’s what friends are for man. Having your back when you don’t even know you need it.”
At least I didn’t lose it at Ruggles….
I’d like to be… under the sea…

June 14, 2011So it’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted anything and there’s some downtime at work…. how YOU doin’?
Notice the slight site revamp? The background with the train station looked weird so I ditched it and went very 2011 web trendy with some poppy 3d elements and a textured background. I’ve been taking some time during my internship to do so because I’ve been assigned to revamp their wordpress site. Here’s some previews of what I’ve been working on (I have like a billion of these wireframes now):
Eliminating entire food groups from one’s diet is particularly difficult despite the positive feedback so far. Sleeping better, less aches and pains, clothes fitting better? To think, it’s only been a week. I’m a little hard pressed to believe it’s the only factor though. I also attribute it to the fact that THE SUN actually made an appearance all last week. Vitamin D overload. Too bad it didn’t last long. /:
Gil Scott Heron passed away recently so in his honor, I have quoted him in le title from the Jamie XX collaboration. RIP sir.
Until next time!

May 20, 2011It’s been almost a week since I’ve looked at this, I’m once again stuck on a bus and the world is about to end. Time for an update!
In honor of the second coming tomorrow, I’m listening to the Rapture on Pandora radio. Not gonna lie, when the Internet buzz started about this Rapture business, I thought they were coming into town and got excited. I saw them last summer at Royale and they rocked it. I personally think Boston should have organized an outdoor party tomorrow with them playing. Would have been a solid way to go out.
My sister is to be wed this Sunday to her boyfriend of 13 years. (wow, that sounds so much classier than “getting married”) Of course, she picks the day AFTER the Rapture. Man, that’s going to be embarrassing if half the wedding party isn’t around because they were chosen. I would imagine everyone from the bachelorette party last weekend will still be here at least.
My iPad so far has been a good investment. I’m currently updating from it now. I recommend one for those who like making digital art and manage an art blog. Here’s a sketch I did for a friend in ArtStudio. (only $2.99!)

Well, I’m in Newport, RI and the sun is out. Boston couldn’t even provide that much before the end of the world. I leave you with sassy, “ready to rapture” bachelorette party Jesus.
